What is Annual Profections?

Annual Profections is a time-lord technique from Hellenistic astrology that helps people understand the focus or theme of each year in their life. It’s based on the idea that every year of your life is ruled by one of the 12 astrological houses, each of which represents different areas of life. This technique can show which parts of your life might get more attention, growth, or even challenges for a specific year.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

  1. House-based Timing: Each year, we “move” one house forward in the zodiac wheel, starting with your 1st house at birth. So, when you’re 1 year old, you’re in a 2nd house year; when you’re 2 years old, a 3rd house year; and so on. This cycle repeats every 12 years.

  2. House Themes: Each house represents certain themes:

    • 1st House (ages 0, 12, 24, etc.): Self, identity, health, appearance
    • 2nd House (ages 1, 13, 25, etc.): Money, possessions, values
    • 3rd House (ages 2, 14, 26, etc.): Communication, siblings, short trips
    • … and so on through all 12 houses.
  3. Planetary Focus: The planet ruling each year’s house (based on your natal chart) becomes extra important. For instance, if you’re in a 10th house year and Capricorn rules your 10th house, Saturn (Capricorn’s ruler) will be significant for that year, influencing career and public image.

How to Use Annual Profections

  • Identify the House Year: Find your age and see which house it corresponds to.
  • Review the House Themes: Think about how these themes might play out for you.
  • Consider the Ruling Planet: Look at where that planet is in your chart and consider its qualities.
